A malfunctioning central heating boiler is annoying, especially in winter. Many faults have a recognisable cause. Below are the most common ones, and what you can safely check yourself before calling us.
- Pressure loss is a common cause
- An error code often points in the right direction
- Many faults can be prevented with maintenance
- When in doubt: have it checked safely
No hot water or heating
Check whether the water pressure on the gauge is between approximately 1.0 and 2.0 bar. Pressure that is too low is a common cause; topping it up often solves it. Does the problem persist? Then we will investigate further.
Error code on the display
Modern boilers show an error code that indicates the direction. Note down the code when you call us, so we can often estimate what is going on and bring the right parts.

Prevention is better
Many faults can be prevented with periodic maintenance. Contract customers also receive priority if something does go wrong.
Frequently asked questions
My boiler is losing pressure, what now?
Topping up to approximately 1.5 bar often helps. If you have to top it up frequently, there may be a leak or another problem; have it checked.
Can I fix a fault myself?
Topping up pressure and resetting can often be done yourself. Leave work on gas or electricity to a certified engineer.
