Solar panels can be installed on almost any roof. Whether you have a pitched tiled roof or a flat roof: with the right approach, you can achieve a great yield. The installation process does differ, however.
- Pitched roof: panels follow the roof pitch
- Flat roof: panels on a mounting system at an optimal angle
- Flat roof offers freedom of orientation
- Both provide a great yield
Pitched roof
On a pitched roof, the panels lie along the slope of the roof, using mounting hooks under the roof tiles. The yield depends on the orientation (south is ideal, east-west spreads the yield) and the pitch angle.
Flat roof
On a flat roof, we place the panels on a lightweight mounting system at the optimal angle. You have freedom of orientation, often east-west for an even yield, and the roof remains accessible for maintenance.

Which is better?
Neither is "better"; it depends on your roof and your requirements. We determine the setup that provides the highest yield for your situation.
Frequently asked questions
Does a mounting system put too much load on my flat roof?
We use lightweight systems with the correct ballast, tailored to the load-bearing capacity of your roof. We check this in advance.
Which orientation is best?
South provides the highest peak; east-west spreads the yield throughout the day, which can be advantageous in terms of self-consumption.
